Journal of Arterial Stiffness Case Reports

Journal of Arterial Stiffness Case Reports publishes case reports in Arterial Stiffness journal, images in Arterial Stiffness journal, case reports in Arterial Stiffness journal, surgery in Arterial Stiffness journal etc. Comprehensive analysis of the relationship between increased arterial stiffness and various pathophysiological disorders in adults has been conducted which is often correlated with increased cardiovascular risk. Studies have also shown that arterial rigidity is associated with changes in the end organs, including left ventricular hypertrophy and intimate-media thickening in adults independent of systemic blood pressure. Importantly, the rigidity of central arteries as measured by aortic pulse wave velocity and carotid dispensability has been shown to have an independent predictive value for cardiovascular events in the general adult population, in the elderly, in adults with hypertension, in end-stage renal failure and with reduced glucose tolerance. While central arterial rigidity has been the focus of most adult studies, the contribution of the stiffness of the smaller peripheral arteries to total vascular impedance should not be ignored. Also structural remodelling happens in smaller arteries and branching points. Changes in mechanical conduit properties and resistive arteries influence wave reflections and contribute to increased aortic root late systolic blood pressure. Consequently, the carotid augmentation index has also been shown to have an independent predictive value for cardiovascular events in adults with hypertension and end-stage renal failure, and those undergoing percutaneous coronary procedure. Associations have also been reported, as calculated by pulse contour analysis, between increased stiffness of small arteries and aging, hypertension, obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular events.
