Case Reports in Cardiac Arrest Journal

It can come on suddenly, or in the aftermath of other symptoms. Cardiac arrest is often fatal, unless suitable immediate action is taken. Death can quickly result in cardiac arrest if proper action is not taken immediately. Cardiac arrest may be reversed if CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) is performed and a defibrillator is used in the space of a few minutes to shock the heart and restore normal heart rate. Cardiac arrest, called arrhythmias, may be due to irregular rhythms of the heart. One common arrhythmia associated with cardiac arrest is ventricular fibrillation. Ventricular fibrillation means the heart 's lower chambers suddenly start beating, and do not pump blood.
